Hey! I'm Meli D. I’m a surface designer in the making, a mom, and a creator with a passion for turning everyday beauty into intentional, inspiring design. Living in metro Atlanta, my days as a chaos coordinator are a wonky balancing act of running a busy household, raising my family, learning new creative techniques, and pursuing a career and business in surface design.
My heart has always been set on the creative world. I remember countless times growing up where I’d sit on the living room floor, using our piano bench as a table, teaching myself how to draw from library books. Art class was my favorite in school and I even dreamed of being an art teacher. I joined the art clubs, took all of the art classes offered at school, and went on to take commercial photography in college. This led me to corporate graphic design which I quickly learned was not the right fit for me. With the belief I had to go back to school to transition to a better path, I was overwhelmed and feeling stuck, and therefore, remaining hidden in the shadows.
However, my soul was screaming at me to keep pushing. When I was working to reignite my creative flame and prioritize my mental health, my journey to surface design officially began. As a mom of two little ones, I was looking to improve and learn more skills from the convenience of home. Through this exploration, I discovered a path to surface design, my dream job.
When I am not creating, I enjoy reading, hiking, drinking local coffee, and camping with my family. I am forever inspired by nature and the wonderful discoveries all around us. As you view my work, you hold my vision, and I hope you feel my heart. Creating is an extension of my being, a necessity, my calling. My passion is to create work that feels thoughtful, refined, and deeply connected to the beauty of life.
